English: View of the 58 km diameter crater Mojave (at center) and its surroundings in the Xanthe Terra region of Mars. Mojave is estimated to be only 3 million years old, the youngest crater of its size on the planet, and is hypothesized to be the source of the shergottite meteorites found on Earth. This is from a mosaic (version 11.5) of THEMIS daytime infrared images of Mars. North is at the top. The original NASA image has been modified by sharpening. Some of the features in this image have been annotated in Wikimedia Commons. |
