[[w:Abdullah Gul|Abdullah Gul]], current deputy prime minister of [[w:Turkey|Turkey]], have been named new presidential candidate by his party [[w:Adalet_ve_Kalk%C4%B1nma_Partisi|AKP]]. AKP has the majority of the seats in Turkey and their votes are enough to choose the new president. PM [[w:Recep Tayyip Erdogan]] made the announcement on Tuesday that Gul had been named the governing AK party's choice.
